- 1). Locate the "Sleep/Wake" button on top of your iPod Nano. You should see three buttons: two are small and round, while one is slightly larger and oval. The larger, oval one is the "Sleep/Wake" button.
- 2). Press the "Sleep/Wake" button and hold it down for several seconds. If you simply press it down, the iPod Nano's screen turns off but the Nano itself stays on and your music continues playing. Holding down the button for several seconds turns the Nano off completely.
- 3). Press and hold down this button again to turn your iPod Nano back on. As before, it may take several seconds of holding down the button.
