So when you think you have already tried every extreme sport to the most extreme level, you should take a leap and try out kitesurfing. No, it's not just about kite flying. It is using the power of the wind to uplift the level of extremity in snowboarding, wakeboarding, and even surfing. Kitesurfing or kiteboarding takes advantage of the wind's strong current and uses such power to propel forward making a speedier rush of action in your board sports. In this sport, you also get to use a board similar to that of a wakeboard, which is known as the kiteboard.

One very important gadget for one to do this sport is a kite, obviously. But it should not be just any other kite. It is a kite specifically designed for this board to make it strong enough to be able to carry your whole weight and pull you forward together with your board or even your kayak. This powerful kite is no other than the power kite which is so powerful that it is able to gather and hold up the windiest of the winds up there.

There are two major designs of power kites that can be used for such a sport. These include the LEI or the Leading Edge Inflatables and the foil kites. LEI kites are also called C-kites for the reason that they are C in shape. They are most popular among kitesurfers or kiteboarders mainly because they respond quickly to the rider's inputs and they can be easily re-launched whenever they fall on the ground or even on the water. They are also very durable forms of kites. There are actually two variations of these C-shaped kites: (1) bow kites or flat LEI kites and (2) Hybrid or Supported Leading Edge (SLE) kites. These variations of C-kites are suitable for the usage of both beginners and experts alike.

Foil kites are fabric kites with air pockets to help lift the kite itself. Unlike LEI that have bladders to be inflated manually, foil kites can be up and away ten minutes ahead (since it can take up to 10 minutes to inflate LEI). Foil kites also come in two variations, (1) the open cell and (2) the closed cell. The closed cell works well especially if you are doing kitesurfing adventure on water since with open cells, water can get inside it when it hits the water and may be impossible to make it re-launch again.

When you are planning to get your very own power kite to train yourself into kitesurfing, consider the size of the kite you should be getting. And the size of the kite you should be getting depends on your body weight. For example, for people who are 151-175 lbs, a 2.5-3 square meters kite size is well-suited for you. It is therefore important to ask the sales clerk or your trainer about which size to buy that would help you with getting to know how to do kitesurfing.
