Chrysanthemums, or mums, have stems that grow 6 inches high and have flowers 1 to 1 1/4 inches across. Flowers come in orange, yellow, pink and many shades of gold. These flowers prefer full sun and as perennials could survive two or more seasons with mild winters. - pansy image by Aidairi from Fotolia.com
Pansies grow large flowers, 2 to 4 inches across, with many colors. Flowers can come in solid colors or blotched color patches. They grow up to 8 inches high and prefer partial shade. Once blooms begin to wilt, remove them to lengthen blooming time. Grown as annuals, pansies should be replanted every year. - aster image by bright from Fotolia.com
