    • 1). Measure your daybed mattress. You want to get the height, width and length of the mattress. Add a seam allowance of 1-inch.

    • 2). Cut your fabric according to your measurements. A sturdy cotton fabric is ideal because it can withstand the wear and tear and is machine washable.

    • 3). Sew the ends of the two short sides together. Sew the long side of the fabric to the short piece. This should make a pocket for the mattress to slide into.

    • 4). Fold all edges 1/2-inch. Iron the crease. Fold another 1/2-inch and iron again. Pin the edges and sew the hem.

    • 5). Cut three pairs of ties for the slipcover for a total of six ties. These will secure your slipcover to the mattress. You may have to experiment with the length to get them right to make a bow or tie depending on your preference.

    • 6). Mark where the ties will go with your pencil on the wrong side of the fabric. One pair of ties will be in the center of the slipcover. The other two will be evenly space so the slipcover is divided into quarters. Sew the ties to the inside of the slipcover.

    • 7). Place the slipcover over the mattress and secure in place.
