How to Find the Right Hot Glue Gun Stick
- 1). Check your glue gun's manual, stickers on the gun or the glue stick package to find out the exact length and width of the glue stick that your glue gun uses. Additionally, check for the heat level rating. If you can't find this information, contact the glue gun manufacturer.
- 2). Choose a type of glue stick to fit your needs. For example, a white or semi-clear multi-purpose stick usually dries with a cloudy appearance and creates messy strings when you pull the hot glue gun away from the material. This makes it unsuitable for projects in which the glue isn't hidden, such as some flower arrangements. For floral pieces or projects with a clear material, use a clear, floral or no-string glue stick. Glue stick also are available in a variety of colors, so you can choose the color that best matches your material.
- 3). Purchase glue sticks directly from your glue gun manufacturer over the phone or online based on the heat level rating and stick measurements, or all-purpose sticks in the correct size that work with high, low or dual temperature glue guns.
- 4). Buy the sticks through an online vendor or go to local craft supply stores or department stores that have craft departments if you couldn't buy direct through the manufacturer or if you want to buy locally.
