Video Transcript
Hello, I'm Jessica Corbin, certified personal trainer and founder of Vitness RX and I'm going to show you guys how to use a rope to stretch your legs. Stretching is critical for any workout program because it really helps reduce injury, reduces soreness after workouts and it increases range of motion. It's just important that you do it but some of us are a little bit tight and we need a little extra assistance and that's where a rope comes in and I'm going to give you a couple stretches that you can do using a rope. So the first one is just come onto your back. It's a hamstring stretch. So you're just going to want to take the rope around the sole of your foot, some all the way onto your back and then from this position, you just start to walk your hands up the rope to a degree that's comfortable. You always want to find that edge but you don't want to push yourself to where you tear the muscle so be conservative. Hold this each leg for 30 seconds to two minutes and then you can also transition right into an awesome IT band stretch. So all you do is you let the leg fall over to the opposite side as you ground through the opposite shoulder. So this is a really lovely IT band stretch which is the side of the quad, the hip as well as the low back. Hold this as well for about 30 seconds to two minutes on each side. So if you are a type of person that needs a little bit of assistance with your stretching, don't hesitate to use a rope.
