According to Rockland County police reports, in May 2010 Lawrence Taylor was arrested and charged with third-degree rape, patronizing a prostitute, sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said Taylor, 51, was staying at a New York hotel when Rasheed Davis, known for being a pimp, brought a 16-year-old to Taylor's room for sex. When the girl refused, Davis turned her over to Taylor and he sexually assaulted her, then paid her $300.
He has denied the charges.
In January 2011, Taylor accepted a plea deal in the case and pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors - sexual misconduct and soliciting a prostitute.
Taylor, who admitted to having intercourse with the girl, said that she told him that she was 19 years old. He was sentenced to six years probation. Because of the guilty plea, Taylor will have to register as a sex offender.
In April 2011, Taylor was given a Level 1 sex offender status which is considered a low-risk status and his name will not appear on an online sex offender registry.
