Housetraining Your Dog - The 2 Most Important Secrets!

103 6
When housetraining your dog, there are 2 vital things that you need to get right.
If you don't, you will struggle for months and months with messes all over the house.
Get these "secrets" wrong and you may never be able to housetrain your dog at all! Fortunately these "secrets" are pretty easy to do.
The 1st of these is timing.
You must let your dog out to go potty at the appropriate times and at regular intervals through out the day.
To go into this a little bit deeper: The appropriate times are 1) Just after you dog wakes in the morning 2) Just after playing inside 3) Just after waking from a nap 4) Just after eating and...
5) Just before putting your dog to bed (you may need to let her out in the middle of the night; depending on her age and or size) Also, you if you have a puppy or a small dog that you are housetraining, you will need to let your dog out every 2 hours to start with.
If you have a very, very little dog puppy, you might need to let her out even more often.
After all, her bladder will be teeny tiny! The 2nd "secret" is consistency.
You have to be consistent so you dog knows what is expected of her.
For example, don't try and train your puppy to go on paper when you aren't home and also expect her to go potty outside when you are home.
When she is just learning, how is she supposed to know where to go? Sometimes it is OK to go inside the house.
Other times it is not.
It might make perfect sense to you.
However, at this point she doesn't have a clue what is going on or what is expected of her.
Don't get me wrong.
Duel training can be accomplished; however, you must do it one aspect at a time.
Pick one method of housetraining to start with.
Finish off with that and then you can bring in the other method as a secondary training.
So there you have it.
Watch you timing and be consistent with all of your training.
Stick to your plan and you will have your dog housetrained before you know it.
