What does infographics imply? It is graphical and visual illustration of important information and data. Since infographics help in elucidating intricate data or information, it is important that they are designed by an experienced graphic design artist. This is because only a professional will be able to explain complex data so that they are easily comprehensible and engaging for the users.

Besides being good with the designs, a graphic design professional also need to collate a lot of information for making the infographics look alluring. This article will offer some tips on creating exceptional infographics.

1. Choose Primary Colors

In website design, choosing the right colors is crucial so that it matches with the subject of your site. Use of dark or neon colors does not go well with infographics.  These colors will not give easy readability to users. I would suggest that you use the three primary colors for infographics design. The background color should be the lighter shade of the three, while the other two colors can be used elsewhere in the design. Ensure that the colors you are choosing are cohesive to the theme of the information you are providing. The information illustrated should be soothing to the eyes, and not jarring.

2. Narrate a Tale

Infographics are as similar as telling stories. And what makes a story a good one? It is an introduction, middle and a conclusion. Similarly, when you are designing infographics, begin by introducing the problem, then support it with visual facts or data, and finally end it with an apt conclusion.

3. Clients Want Ingenuity, Not Excel Charts!

This might sound very rude but it is true! Face reality guys! If clients just wanted some bars and charts, then they would not have hired you. Clients want creativity and not excel charts. It is originality and deftness of presenting complex information in a visually alluring manner that a client expects. Use apt images, icons, typography or illustrations in your infographics to make your information attractive and easily decipherable.

4. Be Brief

The success of infographics lies in its conciseness. Your main objective should be to answer a definite issue or question. Simply ask a question and answer it in a brief and concise manner. The answer you are providing should be simple and succinct so that your targeted audience understands the meaning of your graphics. After explaining the primary issue or the problem, you are free to add a few additional details to add more depth to your graphics. Being succinct will help you in creating better and effective visuals.

5. Delight Visually

If you think that you have created an infographic with the use of plain looking text, then you are wrong.  As I have said earlier, infographics are meant to present complex information in a visually attractive manner. Therefore, being limited to text alone will make the information even more difficult to comprehend. Instead, use profuse use of shapes, diagrams, charts or any other design component that will make users digest the information easily and quickly. Make more use of symbols or icons than boring text.
