How to Paint on Snap Clips
- 1). Wash each snap clip with soap. Avoid chemical cleansers, which may leave behind trace residues that could prevent good adhesion. Instead, opt for a water-based soap.
- 2). Rinse each snap clip under a water tap. Dry the clips using clean cloth rags.
- 3). Place the snap clip on a canvas drop cloth. Don't use cheap polypropylene plastic drop cloths, which will let primer and paint overspray pool.
- 4). Coat the snap clip with a fine layer of galvanized metal-etching spray primer. Prevent unsightly sagging and clotting by holding an 8-inch space between the snap clip and the spray tip. Apply in several brief bursts instead of a steady, saturating stream. Let the clip dry for two hours before turning it over to prime the other side. Let the snap clip dry for three hours.
- 5). Coat the snap clip with a fine layer of acrylic spray enamel. Hold an 8-inch space between the snap clip and the spray tip. Apply in several brief bursts instead of a heavy stream. Let the clip dry for two hours before turning it over to paint the other side.
- 6). Allow the snap clip to dry completely for three hours.
