    Light Scratches

    • A light scratch is defined as a scratch is barely noticeable or that you can see in the sun but is not deep enough to run your fingernail into. For a scratch that is barely noticeable, you may be able to get the scratch out by using a small amount of furniture polish applied to a dry cloth. Using the dry cloth and furniture polish, buff the window clean and you may notice your scratch fade away. For a light scratch all you may need to repair it is toothpaste. It is best to use either tooth paste that comes in a cream or paste than in a gel form. The first thing that you will need to do is carefully clean the glass, and then dry it with a lint-free cloth. Then you will need to coat the cream or paste toothpaste along the length of the scratch, and be sure to wipe off any extra that you may have put on. Allow the paste to dry, and then wipe off the paste and you should notice that the scratch vanishes along with the toothpaste.

    Moderate Scratches

    • While some moderate scratches may not be able to be repaired, you should at least try to fix it by using a homemade remedy. Use equal amounts of the ingredients of vinegar and dry mustard. Mix these two ingredients together until they form a paste, then apply the mixture along the scratch and allow it to dry. Then using a clean lint-free cloth, buff the window clean. If the scratch is still very noticeable you may need to use professional scratch removal systems. You can buy kits that are designed specifically to remove automotive windshield scratches which will also work for home window repair. However, you may want to stay clear of certain products that contain harsh components such as which will further scratch your window. If the professional scratch removal kits do not work, you may need to replace the window.
