    • Ford developed the E-series for the full-size cargo van market. Introduced as the Econoline in 1960, it was updated in 1993. The 2011 model features flex-fuel capability in the E-350's standard engine. This allows the driver to use gasoline, E85 (85 percent ethanol fuel) or a combination of the two.

    Engine Specifications

    • There are two E-350 trim levels for 2011, the Super Duty and Super Duty Extended. Both feature a 5.4-liter, V-8 engine with 255 horsepower, 350 feet-pounds of torque, single overhead cam, two valves per cylinder and a four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. A 6.8-liter, V-10 engine with 305 horsepower, 420 feet-pounds of torque, single overhead cam, two valves per cylinder and a five-speed automatic overdrive transmission is also available. Both engines have a compression ratio of 9-to-1.

    Towing and Payload

    • Both trims can pull up to 10,000 lbs. The Super Duty has a maximum payload of 4,060 lbs. in 237.80 cubic feet of cargo space. The Super Duty Extended has a maximum payload of 3,890 lbs. in 278.30 cubic feet of cargo space.

    Dimensions

    • Both trims have three doors. The Super Duty is 83.7 inches tall, 79.4 inches wide, 216.7 inches long and weighs 5,602 lbs. The Super Duty Extended stands 83.6 inches tall, 79.4 inches wide, 236.4 inches long and weighs 5,729 lbs. The wheelbase on both trims is 138 inches. The Super Duty's cargo bed is 120.5 inches long, while the Super Duty Extended has a 140.4 inch long cargo bed. Both cargo beds are 52.5 inches deep and 72.4 inches wide.

    Seating Capacity

    • Two passengers can ride in either trim, with an optional seating capacity of five people. Passengers will receive 42 inches of headroom and 40 inches of legroom. Passengers in the optional second row get 40.2 inches of headroom, and 38.8 inches of legroom. Third row passengers get 40.1 inches of headroom, and 40 inches of legroom.

    Safety Specifications

    • Both trims come standard with anti-lock brakes, traction control and vehicle stability control system to help avoid an accident. If a wreck does occur, the standard passenger and driver airbags will minimize any damage caused.
