How to Connect a Mac to a PC Network

    • 1). Turn on Airport. Click on the Airport icon in the menu bar and select "Turn Airport On."

    • 2). Open "System Preferences" in the Apple menu. Select "Sharing."

    • 3). Click on "File Sharing." Click "Options" and select "Share files and folders using SMB" to share files with a PC network.

    • 4). Click the "+" to add users and folders to be shared. You may have to input the user's names and passwords. You can define access to the shared folders as well.

    • 5). Click on "Connect to Server" in the Finder's Go menu.

    • 6). Input the PC network's IP address in this form: "'smb://Network IP Address" with "Network IP Address" replaced by the actual IP address.

    • 7). Enter the Workgroup name, the user name and the password for the network. Click "OK."

    • 8). Select the file you want to mount and click "OK." The file will mount on your Mac's desktop.
