Make your poster stand out when creating a peace poster for a contest or for one that will be viewed in a public place. Use graphics full of color and texture to catch the eye of everyone who walks by it. Let the message be seen in a glance, because a quick glance is all people have time for. The poster should be simple and uncomplicated to draw the most attention. Use symbols and graphics that are unmistakably sending the message of "peace." - The peace sign, which was created more than 50 years ago, has become a popular icon for the symbol of peace, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Use this symbol to create a poster with a picture of the earth as seen from space and draw a peace sign over it. Make the earth a vivid blue and green and use a bright yellow or orange for the peace sign.
- On a map of the world, have a hand coming out of each continent reaching across to each other. This will depict that the world should reach out to one another. Make the hands all different sizes and colors to represent all the people of the world. Put peace sign rings on the fingers of some of the hands and dove rings on the others.
- Depict a person or child sleeping in a war-torn country that is displayed by burnt-out cars and buildings that are destroyed in the background. This person or child can be a photograph or an artistic drawing. Show the person wearing ripped-up clothes, holding a worn-out blanket and lying on the pavement. Indicate what he is dreaming about by putting an idea bulb over his head. In his dream, he is pictured in a nice warm bed with fluffy blankets and a fireplace glowing in the background. The caption can read: "A safe night's sleep is only a dream to people in war-torn countries."
- Put pictures of people who have made attempts to bring peace to this world on a poster and then include one spot with a small mirror. Under that mirror, insert the statement: You can make a difference too! This way, people can look into the mirror and get a visual of what it would look like to be on a poster with famous people who have worked toward peace. Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa and John Lennon are a few examples of the people who can appear on your peace poster.
- Create a sign filled with pictures of babies in diapers holding protests signs in front of the White House, the Capitol or any other recognizable American landmark. The signs can be different. Some can be the peace sign symbol, while others can ask for a safe world or for protection against war.
- Use photos of infants dressed in military uniforms all lined up to get on a cargo plane, like soldiers leaving on deployment. Insert a caption such as, "Each soldier is somebody's baby." The picture will speak for itself about sending our troops into war.
