Surfers have a unique culture and typically are quite dedicated to the sport. Many surfing enthusiasts travel throughout the coasts of North and South America, Australia, South Africa and island nations to try different beaches and their waves. Because surfers are such avid travelers, several companies sell package tours directed at surfers who want to incorporate their hobby into their vacation. - Primarily a surfing supply and apparel company, Quiksilver has gone into the travel business, offering trips and adventures for surfing enthusiasts. One such trip is to Fiji's Nukubati resort. With four bungalow suites and three deluxe bures, or huts, the accommodations at Nukubati are decorated in the traditional colonial Fijian style. Each has a lounge area, bedroom, bathroom with shower and double sinks, and a beach-side veranda and private patio. Guest rooms come equipped with mini-bars and CD players and include daily maid and laundry service.
When travelers aren't surfing, they can enjoy Nukubati's restaurant, bar, library and spa. Other resort activities include bird watching, fishing, hiking, wind surfing, scuba and snorkeling. According to Quiksilver's website, the best time to surf at Nukubati is during the North Swell season, November through February. The resort provides boats so surfers can reach offshore surfing locales. The website says there are at least six world-class surf spots near Nukubati.
