The Lighter Side of the Paranormal

106 7
Let's face it - it's easy to make fun of the paranormal. Ghosts, Bigfoot, the hollow earth, psychics... the paranormal is filled with a lot of pretty goofy ideas. And although we usually take them pretty seriously around here, it's important sometimes not to take them too seriously. It's healthy to occasionally poke fun at the subjects that fascinate us the most. In that vein, here's a roundup of comics, parodies and cartoons with a paranormal slant.

Hope you find a few good laughs.

Voices in My Hand - This is a weekly comic panel by Bill Charbonneau featuring ghosts, ghouls, goblins, monsters, aliens, the undead and other figures of the paranormal. Charbonneau also has another similarly themed comic strip called Weird Theorem Classics.

The Deep End - Anton Ballad offers lots of offbeat cartoons on his website. Categories of interest to us include Alien and Sci-Fi and Halloween.

The Slightly Warped X-Files Page - In these short scripts, poems and stories, "The X-Files" is parodied in a variety of ways. Titles include: "The X-Files Meet Forrest Gump," "'Twas the Night Before Christmas: X-Files Style," "Attack of the Killer Hamster," "Rejected X-Files Spinoffs" and many more.

The Phantom Review - This site takes a tabloid-style swipe at various paranormal themes. For example, there's Linda Blair's Exorcise Bike that helps you "get fit and save your soul from the Devil." And how Death is about to benefit from a major makeover.

BZToons - Brian Zaikowski's colorful cartoons feature aliens, monsters, paranormal situations and other weirdness.

Crank Dot Net - Parodies of paranormal-type news stories are the order of the day on this website. Articles include "NASA Fakes Moon Landings!" "Time Cube Central," "The Cryptozoological Society of Lake Stevens," "Voyage of the Flagship Paranormal," " The Great Flying Saucer Conspiracy," "Elvis Shot JFK - We Have Proof!" and many more.

Dead Psychics Line - This is a "free demonstration of the amazing abilities of dead psychics." Linda Goodman will answer your love questions and Arthur Ford will answer your money questions. They also have five other famous "dead psychics" available for any other questions.

Harold Schnotke's Startling Truths - Harold rips into such supernatural topics as UFOs, the hollow Earth, mind control, Bozo the clown and more.

Psience.org - Rudis Muiznieks has a cool site on which he features his original daily web comic on paranormal and UFO matters. Funny stuff worth looking at regularly!

Alice - This comic strip currently chronicles Alice's adventures with UFOs and aliens

Blue Moon - Terry Pearson's comic strip covers conspiracy, mystery, the unexplained - and utter wackiness. Updated every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I've saved the best for last:

Mysterious Phenomena of the Unexplained - Daffy Duck is your host for this series of funny online cartoons in which investigator Daffy probes the paranormal. Titles include "Bigfoot," "Martians," "Loch Ness Monster," "Crop Circles," "Bermuda Triangle," and "Ghosts." Great stuff with the trademark Loony Tunes humor. You'll also find Marvin the Martian on the site.

Did I miss your favorite paranormal humor site? Let me know.
