  Although Kleinwalsertal is not physically within the borders of Austria, it is an Austrian exclave surrounded by German territory. Sitting just northwest of Austria's border, this valley has three villages--Mittelberg, Hirschegg and Riezlern--surrounded by mountains and the Breitach river. Cars are not permitted in Kleinwalsertal, so buses take visitors from the German village of Oberstdorf. During the summer months, hiking and kayaking are popular in Kleinwalsertal.
