Wine Gift Basket Ideas
- Create a picnic basket for the wine lover that will provide everything necessary for a special picnic, complete with snacks and wines. Find a large basket with handles and line it with a red or blue checked tablecloth. Tuck in two matching cloth napkins. If possible, find out one or two of your recipient's favorite wines and tuck them into the basket.
A portable, battery-powered wine cooler would be an excellent addition to the picnic basket. Many of these coolers can chill a bottle of wine in about 10 minutes. A matching corkscrew and bottle stopper set is a must for the picnic basket. Of course, you should place two plastic wine glasses in the picnic basket that will allow for safe, yet pleasant, wine sipping while in a picnic setting. Throw in a wedge of gourmet cheese, a loaf of crusty bread, herbed olive oil for dipping the bread and some assorted fresh fruit and the picnic basket is complete. - If a picnic basket isn't appropriate or desired, then provide gadgets galore and wine to dazzle the wine lover. A basket filled with these items will provide plenty of wine tasting enjoyment. Tuck in a gift certificate for a tour at a local winery or a gift card for an evening at a wine tasting venue. Include one or two bottles of your recipient's favorite wines. You might take a guess at a new wine to try as well. A quality corkscrew set or a wine tool kit containing everything necessary for opening and resealing wine bottles is usually appreciated. Choose a set of four wine goblets of high quality and attractive style to add to the gift basket.
Include an iceless wine chiller that works by electricity or batteries. A true wine lover would appreciate a wine thermometer so that wines can always be consumed at the perfect temperature. Don't forget the treats for munching. Smoked meats and cheeses, crackers, biscuits, nuts and olives are all suitable choices for including in a wine basket for special nibbling while wine sipping.
