- Originally established as an engineering college in 1958, Florida Institute of Technology built its curriculum around opportunities available at nearby Cape Canaveral. Undergraduate programs now include aviation, business, psychology, communication, science and mathematics education, in addition to engineering. More than 3,700 students are enrolled at the main campus. The College of Aeronautics maintains a cross-educational program with the Civil Aviation Flight University of China, in southwest China. Seven residence halls, each named for a fallen astronaut from the Shuttle Columbia, were recently added to the housing list.
- Brevard Community College's Melbourne Campus offers certificates in technology and vocational training, and associate degrees. The college has three other campuses throughout Brevard County, plus an educational center at Kennedy Space Center. A diverse curriculum is available on the Melbourne campus, including American Sign Language and microcomputer applications as associate degrees. Workforce training and development programs offer students technical or vocational courses in preparation for entering the workforce upon certification. For students planning on continuing their education, credits earned in a two-year associate's degree program will transfer to Florida state colleges and universities.
- Barry University has two Brevard County campuses, one in Cape Canaveral and the other in Melbourne. The Melbourne campus offers bachelor and master's degrees, and post-baccalaureate certificates in information technology and software engineering. Adult and continuing education courses are also taught at the Melbourne campus. Barry University was founded in 1940 as a Dominican educational institution in Miami and has since expanded throughout the state of Florida.
- The Melbourne campus of Keiser University is a hands-on facility offering certificates, associate degrees, bachelor and master's degrees. The full-service Melbourne campus includes offices of administration, a library, labs and classrooms. The culinary arts program has a full, commercial kitchen. The school's philosophy is to combine academics with experience. Students can choose several majors, including an associate's degree in culinary arts, a bachelor's degree in nursing or a master's degree in business administration.
