So you have just found the job posting of your dreams, you have your resume all primped and ready to go, but wait...

(sigh) While a polished resume can definitely open doors of opportunity, an amazing cover letter is the key that turns the lock.
Sadly many people actually weed-out job opportunities with this requirement due to laziness.
Well guess what? Many, companies include this as a 'Barrier to Entry'.
Reason being, if you can't take the time to follow this one simple request, then why should they consider you to become a part of their team? Are you ready for another 'Eye-Opener'? Employers also use the cover letter as a means of peeking into the mindset of the potential employee.
If all you do is toot your own horn, scream me, me, me and essentially preach how great you are, then guess what? You have just been relegated to the recycling bin.
Picture yourself at a party and you meet two people.
The first person is all rah-rah look at me, guess what I can do, I am so great, yadda yadda yadda...
ugh! Now, the second person you meet actually takes the time to get to know you, listens to what you have to say, and takes an genuine interest in you.
Who will you follow up with to have coffee? Most likely the second person...
A truly amazing cover letter is much like the second person.
It acknowledges the companies needs and how your particular skill set can benefit them.
It answers the question "What's in it for me?" only from the employers perspective, not the employee.
