Are you planning to rent a car in Ireland? If you are new about car rentals, you might get lost in the myriad of terms in the business.
You may come out of a car rental company with a puzzled look in your face.
I don't blame you, if ever, because car rental companies use lots of terms that may be hard to understand especially for newbies.
Well, here we define the most common jargon used in car rentals: Express Pick Up.
Usually before you can get the car that you have rented, you have to see the car hire representative first.
You have to sort out the final details of the car rental.
This is the common car rental procedure but it you are a frequent renter, you have the advantage of express pick up, meaning there is no much ado.
You don't have to see the car rental representative, you can get your car right away - express! Express Return.
You can also do express in returning the car.
You don't have to wait in queue at the car rental office to surrender the keys to a representative.
If you are a frequent renter, a representative will wait for you at a drop off point to get the car and the key or you can leave the car and drop the key to designated drop-off boxes.
Valet.
If you rented a car and needs to go somewhere very important right after you drop off the car, you can opt for a valet service.
For instance, you rented a car for your holiday in Ireland and then drop it off already but you need to go to the airport after that.
If the car rental company has a valet service, you will have a ride to the airport.
It will cost you probably lesser than taxi.
Liability Insurance Coverage.
This type of insurance ensures that you, as the driver, and the car rental company wouldn't have any liability or wouldn't have to deal with lawsuits involving an injured party in case of accident.
This is very important because you don't know what's going to happen.
At least, you are protected from lawsuits if you have the liability insurance coverage.
Collision Damage Waiver.
In case that something happens to the car, you can be free from any obligation if you pay extra for collision damage waiver.
The extra pay can be quite high but at least you free yourself from any liability on car damage when things go wrong.
These are just some of the jargon used in car rental.
There are some more but at least now you know the basics.
