While women have almost limitless options when it comes to wedding attire, men may not feel they have the same freedom. Instead, some men think that they are bound to the basic black tuxedo. In truth, there are an assortment of things that men can do to customize their wedding tux look. Before you head down the aisle, consider some modifications you can make to your tux or the tux of your groom to make the look more distinctive. - Instead of creating a matching set of boutonnieres for each member of the bridal party, create customized floral accents that reflect the wearer or pair with another member of the wedding party. For example, if the bride is carrying a bouquet of lilies, create a lily boutonniere for the groom. Assign a different flower to each bridesmaid and groomsman pair, create a bouquet and paired boutonniere to subtly and aesthetically tie the pair together.
- Dress your groom's tux up with a special wedding day gift. Prior to the wedding, order a customized tux accessory that the sharp dresser can wear during his work day as well. Consider a personalized tie-tack, pair of cuff links or lapel pin. Present this gift to the groom on his wedding day as a thoughtful way to remind him of your love.
- Many modern grooms and groomsmen opt to trade the standard bow tie for a more modern alternative. Instead of this classic tuxedo component, try a straight tie or cravat to create a different look. To make the look even more distinctive, select an attention-getting printed tie over a solid colored option.
- Instead of topping your tux with a floral boutonniere, create a less common accessory by crafting a leafy boutonniere. Use natural or silk leaves to create your tux topper. Select leaves in a bright green hue or, to pair with a fall wedding, pick brightly colored fall foliage leaves. Bundle the leaves to make a bold and attention-getting boutonniere that is sure to attract eyes on your wedding day.
- Instead of going with the standard black, select a less common hue, such as gray, white or tan. These tux colors are atypical and, as such, make more of a statement than the standard black. Selecting a lighter color for your tux is a particularly wise choice if planning a spring or summer wedding, or a beach event at which a black tux may be oppressively hot.
