How to Make HTML Symbols
- 1). Open the webpage into which you wish to insert a special HTML character.
- 2). Move your cursor to the point in the webpage's source code where you wish to insert the special character.
- 3). Type the character reference for the special character you wish to have the web page render. It will be an ampersand, followed by a pound sign, then a 2-4 digit number, and ending with a semicolon. For example, to insert a registered trademark symbol into your body copy, you would type "®" without the quotes. Consult the World Wide Web Consortium (w3c.org) for a complete list of standard special character references.
- 4). Save and publish your web page.
