Controlling Anxiety Attacks - It Can Be Done in a Natural Way

If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks and are wondering how to cure yourself of this plague, the first thing you should realize is that there are many ways to alleviate the problem without resorting to drugs or chemicals.
Indeed, you might be surprised to find that there are a number of things you can do that are completely natural.
First, avoid foods or drinks that are high in stimulants such as caffeine or sugar.
This means chocolate, coffee, tea or sodas like Pepsi and Coke.
Both caffeine and sugar can stimulate your body and make you extremely alert, and possibly more anxious than you might be without them.
Next, if you smoke, stop, cease and desist.
Just as caffeine and sugar are both stimulants, so is the nicotine found in tobacco products like cigars and cigarettes.
Just as caffeine and sugar will, nicotine may increase your anxiety levels.
This does not mean, however, that you should quit caffeine, sugar or nicotine cold turkey as you could experience withdrawal symptoms.
For example, you could suffer migraines, but you could also experience an actual increase in your anxiety levels from a sudden withdrawal because your body hasn't learned to cope without what it thinks is a normal diet of stimulants.
Exercising each day is yet another way to alleviate anxiety.
All it takes is about twenty minutes a day.
Walking or jogging are two excellent ways to take a load of anxiety off your mind, and you don't have to join a gym to do either.
Exercise is such an effective means of reducing anxiety because it burns up some of the extra adrenaline and energy in the body that might otherwise help to bring about an overdose of anxiety.
Finally, of course, controlling your breathing is one of the best ways to stop those panic attacks in their tracks.
Everyone who experiences a panic or anxiety attack experiences rapid breathing, so find some way or place to sit down, relax and take deep slow breaths.
This will give you a lot more control over the attacks so they don't get worse than they need to be.
