    Common Side Effects

    • Sumycin can lead to several diverse, common side effects. These side effects usually go away on their own soon after people start using the medication, because the body often needs a little bit of time to adapt to it. If you have any of these side effects and they get worse or persist, you need to speak with your physician about it. These common side effects include tongue redness or inflammmation, loose and bulky stools, having a hard time swallowing, stomachache, rectal swelling or itchiness, headache, indigestion, hoarseness, blurry vision, hairy and black tongue, sores inside of the mouth, nausea, hives, sore throat, sunlight sensitivity, joint ache, skin rash, nausea, and appetite loss.

    Serious Side Effects

    • A handful of serious side effects exist with Sumycin use, as well. These side effects, unlike the minor and common ones, always require immediate medical help. These potentially harmful side effects are signs of infection (like chills, fever, and sore throat), vaginal discharge or irritation, nausea, itchiness, extreme skin reaction to the sun, and throwing up.

    Allergic Reactions

    • Serious allergic reactions are a possibility with Sumycin. These allergic reactions can occasionally have some very dangerous consequences, so they call for emergency medical assistance as soon as possible. Some symptoms to look out for include tightness or heaviness within the chest, having trouble with breathing, swelling, skin rash, itching, and hives.

    Warnings

    • Taking Sumycin is not safe for everybody, including those that are allergic to any of its (or any of tetracycline antibiotics) components. Also, people taking methoxyflurane or acitretin are advised against using Sumycin. Your doctor must be aware of all allergies and medical conditions that you have.

    Drug Interactions

    • There are various medications that could lead to drug interactions when taken alongside Sumicyin. These interactions could lead to reduced or increased effectiveness of the medications that are involved. Some of the medicines that interact with Sumicyn include methotrexate, oral contraceptives, digoxin, isotretinoin, penicillins, lithium, atovaquone, and anticoagulants (like Warfarin). Your doctor should always be aware of all medicines and nutritional supplements that are you taking.
