DIY Florist Checklists

    • 1). Begin a text document entitled "Florist Checklist" on your computer in a program such as Microsoft Word or Notepad.

    • 2). At the top, type "Florist Information" and leave room under this so you can write the name of the floral shop, the florist you spoke with and the phone number.

    • 3). Under the florist info, type up your questions, grouping similar ones together. For example, questions about cost such as "When is payment due?"; "How much is the deposit?"; and "Are there any extra fees?" should all be in one section. Questions like "What time will you start working?"; "How will the flowers be transported?" and other logistical questions should be in another section. If it helps, make the different sections color coded so it is easier to understand. Leave room under each question for you to write the answers.

    • 4). Leave extra space at the bottom of your document for any miscellaneous notes you may have. For example, you might be particularly fond of a florist's work or you may feel you were mistreated. Either way, it's best to have that in writing when it's time to make the final decision.

    • 5). Print out plenty of copies of your checklist. If you know you're going to four separate florists, print out six or seven copies. You may be tempted to try one extra shop, or you could lose a copy.

    • 6). Attach the florist's business card to the checklist if he provides one.
