The Business Mentality

103 8
So, you have decided to run a business from home.
You have done some reading from your trusty e-book on the subject, designed a killer site - and now you are all ready to experience success from your efforts.
That is a nice dream, but that is ALL that is - a dream.
REAL success requires a GREAT deal of work.
That should be obvious, but if I thought it were, then I would see no value in writing this post.
The fact is, the number of people who go into business under the mistaken impression of "quick riches" is virtually an epidemic.
EVERYBODY has a business, but few are prepared to tough it out.
Once the hard work arrives and the fantasy of quick riches fades, they are ready to get out.
Nobody really minds tossing up a web page and trying their luck, but the majority of these people simply don't begin their businesses with the proper mentality; that is, the "business" mentality.
What is the business mentality? It's a cold as ice, hard as steel commitment to your business that comes second only to the security of your family.
It is the un-shakable belief that if you persevere, then you absolutely will succeed.
The business mentality is ALL about perseverance.
You can't "dabble" at a business.
You've got to give it all you've got.
Some people spend thousands of dollars trying to buy get-rich-quick solutions to get their business up and running, only to discover the great truth.
The problem is not with the business - but with the business owner! What is your attitude about YOUR business? Are you serious about it? Maybe you've got a bit of money and are willing to buy solutions - but how much work are you willing to do on yourself? Afraid of cameras? Are you ready to overcome this fear and to build a video? Get the jitters when public speaking? Are you prepared to overlook this defect and demo your product or service at the trade show? Hate talking on the phone? Are you willing to sacrifice business sales on the altar of Telephonophobia (yes, that's a real term)? When it comes to heavy lifting, raising a business is as heavy as it gets.
If you are dabbling, you will quit absolutely.
People who succeed have defined their dream.
They know WHY they want their business to succeed.
They are determined that it WILL succeed.
Even if they have to killsomeone - while that would certainly be regrettable, but...
So again - where do YOU rate on the commitment meter? Are you dabbling? If so - why go any further? It will only cost you money that you will never recoup - period! Get out NOW - and cut your losses.
If on the other hand, you love what you have built - and want nothing more than to see it all grown up and fully functioning - then you gotta get serious, prepare to take risks, give your business time - and determine that what needs to be done, WILL be done.
Take personal inventory, decide YOUR path - then take it.
If you decide to get out - there is nothing wrong with that decision.
If you decide to stick it out - then go forward and do wonders.
You will find that once you get past your biggest hurdle - that is yourself- the road ahead will be clear sailing.
Good Luck!
