What Is a Ceramic Heater System?

    How Ceramic Heaters Work

    • Electricity passes through coils which heat up the ceramic tiles. Fans distribute the heat throughout the room. Many models come equipped with a thermostat which makes sure the coils don't get too hot.

    Advantages

    • Ceramic heaters heat up much faster than traditional coil heaters and are more energy efficient. They operate at lower temperatures than coil heaters which glow bright red. This reduces the risk of fire. They are portable and light.

    Disadvantages

    • Ceramic heaters can only heat small enclosed areas. While the risk of fire is much less than coil or radiant heaters, manufactures warn to keep them at least 3 feet away from power cords, draperies or flammable items.
