    • 1). Place the cocoa pods in a pot over medium heat. Break the pods down until they turn into ash. The amount of pods you will need depends on their size, but you will need enough ash to fill 1 to 1 ½ cups.

    • 2). Add your palm oil to a different pot. Heat the palm oil to below boiling. If the oil appears to begin boiling, turn the temperature down or remove it from the heat for a few minutes.

    • 3). Pour 6 cups of water into the pot of ash. Bring the water to boiling. Continue to boil the water until the ashes dissolve.

    • 4). Begin pouring the hot palm oil into you boiling water, but do this very slowly to prevent splashing hot oil in your face. Lower the temperature to simmer the ingredients.

    • 5). Stir the mixture constantly. Black soap will begin to form on the surface. You need to hold the mixture at this warm temperature until the foam stops forming. This process will take up to an hour.

    • 6). Use a spoon to scoop the foam off the top of your pot. Place the foam on wax paper and allow it to cool. Continue scooping the foam until all of the water evaporates from the pot.

    • 7). Form the black soap foam into any desired shape once it cools. You can add the foam into a soap mold or press it into a glass container to make a bar of soap.

    • 8). Allow the soap to set for two weeks. Package the soap or store it in a cool and dry environment.
