- 1). Back up the files stored on the Nokia to a Windows-based computer to prevent the loss of personal data once the device is restored. To do so, connect the device to the computer with a USB cable. Access "My Computer" and then open the file labeled, "removable disc." With that folder open, move the files you wish to keep to a backup folder. Skip this step if you do not wish to save the personal data on the device.
- 2). Enter *#7370# with the keypad of the phone. Nokia programs star and pound codes into the firmware of their phones to make it easier to access menu items such as the master reset function.
- 3). Enter 12345 into the phone when the Nokia prompts you for the reset password. This is the default code Nokia stores into the device. If the code has been changed from the default and you know the code, substitute 12345 with that code. If the code has been changed and you do not know the new code, contact Nokia. The phone must be sent to them to be "flashed." There is no other way to obtain the code.
