How Do I Make Cheerleader Pompoms?
- 1). Remove the garbage bags from the roll they come boxed in, but do not unfold them. Stack 10 garbage bags on top of one another and lay the folded bags on a hard, flat surface, such as concrete.
- 2). Using your scissors, cut off the top of the garbage bag, approximately 2 inches from the opening. Cut the bottom 2 inches or so of the garbage bag off as well, to create an opening; however, you don't need to worry about measuring how far you cut the bottom because you can trim it to your liking at the end.
- 3). Fold the stacked garbage bags in half, top to bottom. Make sure the cut, open ends are now at the bottom and the folded part is completely closed.
- 4). Starting at the bottom of the garbage bags, cut a vertical strip to approximately 4 inches from the top fold of the garbage bags. Repeat this 10 to 12 times.
- 5). Roll the stacked garbage bags sideways, to form a thin tube shape. Using duct or masking tape, securely tape the portion of the bags that was not cut (the top 4 inches) to form a handle.
- 6). Slightly wet your hands and firmly rub about 5 to 6 of the strips between your hands for 5 minutes. Repeat with the remaining strips; this will fluff the strips to give them the familiar pompom look.
- 7). Cut the ends of the strips if you feel they are too long or uneven. Repeat all the steps to make a second pompom.
