Plan A Fun-filled Kiddy Birthday With These Treats

No children's birthday is complete without a few special elements that scream ‘fun!' A day out at the amusement park is a good idea but it's impossible to take along too many kids. The cost is just not worth it. A better option is to hire a few treats for young children and complete the day with a trip to the amusement park that older kids will love.

For young children

Jumping castles: What's more fun than a jumping castle? It's colorful and can hold several kids at once which makes for a great social setting. It's readily found in amusement parks and can also be hired.

A few points to keep in mind when hiring jumping castles is that there must be enough space to set them up. A cushioned ground (grassy area, no concrete) must be available and sufficient space for adults to stand as they'll have to monitor the children. The castles themselves must be big enough and the holding capacity should not be exceeded at any cost. The bottoms should be weighted so that even vigorous play doesn't tip them over.

Kiddy train: Not a true train but a very real one in the eyes of children, a kiddy train is the perfect entertainment for a birthday bash. It can hold more kids and go places so it's great for outdoor fun.

Perhaps the best feature of this ride is that even adults can get on as the cars are stable enough to support heavier weights. Find out what the capacity is, how far it can travel and whether it must travel over specific terrain before hiring one.

For older children

Cup and saucer ride: A classic, cup and saucer rides are pretty, whimsical and plenty of fun. Like jumping castles, they're a staple of amusement parks so you should have no problem finding one.

You can usually expect safe rides at amusement parks but it pays to be careful. With very young children, ask the operator if the speed can be slowed so they don't get sick. There should be one adult for every cup to watch the kids. The guard rails must be strong enough to keep adults in and the seats securely fastened.

Round Up: Tamer than a rollercoaster but still thrilling nonetheless, the Round Up is a must-try for every older child. The horizontal-vertical tilt of the platform as it spins to push riders against the wall is enough to thrill anyone, even hardened rollercoaster lovers. If younger children are getting on, make sure there's one adult for every compartment. Though safe, they may panic which can force them to act irrationally.

Family-oriented

Bumper cars: An old favourite that never goes out of style, bumper cars are must-haves for birthday parties because unlike others, they're designed for entire families. The interactive nature is what makes them favourites during family outings so don't forget to include them.

Also unlike other ‘high' rides, bumper cars may have a lower risk of accidents because they're on the ground and don't move as fast. Of course, safety must still be practiced but for the most part, children aren't in any danger. One way to make sure they're completely safe is to have adults drive and put kids in the passenger seat.

These few rides are popular favourites among old and young alike. Even if you can't include all of them try to have at least three or four for children and adults.
