How to Make a Chan M Bracelet
- 1). Fold the leather lace in half. Wrap it around your wrist the number of times that you want the bracelet to be wrapped, such as four or five times to make sure that the leather lace is long enough. Leave an extra 3 inches of lace at the bend of the fold and the ends to ensure that you have enough room to work with. Unwrap the lace from your wrist.
- 2). Hold onto the folded end. Place your fingers 1-inch down from the fold and make a simple knot by wrapping the folded end around the long ends of the leather lace, under the leather and through the hole made by the lace ends. Pull the folded end tight to finish making the knot.
- 3). Pin the knotted end to your pants with a large safety pin. Thread your beading needle with heavy duty embroidery thread in the color of your choice. Insert the needle through the middle of the knot and hold down the end of the thread as you pull the thread through. When you reach the end of the thread, tie it off with a simple double knot.
- 4). Pass the thread to the right, behind the two leather lace strands and hold it in front of the right lace. String a bead onto the needle. Hold the bead in place between the two lace strands, directly beneath the knot in the leather with your left thumb and forefinger. Pass the needle under and around the right cord and through the bead. Pull the thread tight while holding the bead in place. Pass the thread over the left cord and through the bead and pull the thread tight.
- 5). Pass the needle and thread under and over the right lace strand. String on the next bead. Hold it between the two leather lace strands, beneath the first bead, with your left thumb and forefinger. Pass the needle over the right cord and through the bead. Pull the thread tight, then pass the thread over and under the left cord, then insert the needle through the bead and pull the thread tight. Continue adding beads in this manner until you have made a bracelet that fits your wrist or one that is 8-inches long.
- 6). Pass the needle and thread under the left cord. Insert the needle through the bead and pull the thread through. Tie three simple overhand knots in the thread, then trim the excess thread off with a pair of scissors.
- 7). Insert the free ends of the leather laces into the corresponding holes of a button. Hold the button close to the last bead with a thumb and forefinger. Put the two lace ends together and tie them together in a simple knot to hold the button in place. Trim the excess lace, leaving 1/2-inch free to hang at the end. Knot the very ends of the laces, by holding them together and tying them in another simple knot to finish making the bracelet.
