Invitations

• Create invitations by staining papyrus-like paper with tea bags and writing the party information on the paper by hand. Invite guests to dress in ancient Egyptian costumes if you are planning a costume theme party. Glue dowels to the top and bottom of the invitation, roll it around them like a scroll and tie closed with a piece of gold ribbon.
  
  

Decorations

• Cut cardboard boxes into pieces to make "bricks" to tape to the wall in the shape of a giant pyramid. Decorate the table with a red tablecloth, gold glitter or confetti pieces and a centerpiece of gold-wrapped chocolate coins in a clay bowl.
  
  

Activities

• As guests arrive, have them make name tags using ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. Print out a list of the symbols and their corresponding sounds and have a helper available to assist guests in choosing the right sounds to make their names. If the party is for kids, fill a sandbox or bucket with sand and a variety of small toys or plastic jewels and let kids dig through the "archaeological ruins" for treasures.
