How to Make a Child's Invitation
- 1). Choose a theme for the invitation that matches the theme of the party. Ideally, the theme will reflect one of your child's passions, which may be outer space, fashion, a particular cartoon or WWE wrestling. Be sure to ask your child what she wants if she is old enough to verbalize it.
- 2). Include pertinent information inside the invitation. Clearly print or type the name of the host or guest of honor, date of the party, the theme if applicable, the time frame, the location and your phone number and email address for RSVPs. It is also helpful if you provide a map with written directions so guests have no trouble finding the site of the party.
- 3). Involve your child in the creative process by allowing him to draw an image you can photocopy onto each of the invitations or let him use rubber stamps to ink out a unique pattern on each invite. Use multicolored borders with fun designs to frame your child's creation.
- 4). Decorate the inside of the invitation with your child. You can use crayons, markers, glitter and any other frills you desire. Keep your theme in mind. For example, you can use many shades of pink and draw crowns if it the party is a princess party. Make it as simple or as complicated as you and your child desire.
- 5). Make the invitations three-dimensional to add interest. Do this by cutting out small images or symbols from paper, felt or other materials and gluing these to the individual invites.
- 6). Enclose confetti or crepe paper streamers in the envelopes with the invitations. Kid's Party Fun suggests including a small fun item if you are going to hand out invites rather than mailing them. For example, you might include a tiny plastic wand if the party has a magic theme.
