- 1). Remove any rock piles, large rocks or concrete debris from the area where you want the snakes removed. Wear work gloves and work boots for protection and carry a shovel. If you happen upon a dangerous snake, don't take any chances---use your shovel.
- 2). Remove any pools, such as goldfish ponds, water fountains or bird baths that have standing water.
- 3). Remove any wood piles, board piles or old wood sheds. Try to remove anything the snakes can use to hide. Use the shovel to poke at wooden boards and piles before picking any up to make sure a snake isn't hiding.
- 4). Keep your grounds well mowed. Don't let the grass get high. Keep bushes trimmed and weeds to a minimum.
- 5). Hire a professional snake trapper if the snakes are still a problem. Removing the snakes is the only effective remedy. You can contact your local animal control office or the Nationwide Directory of Wildlife Control Specialists to find service in your area.
