How to Mount a Toilet Flange
- 1). Press the flange into place on the exposed drain pipe. Insert the two toilet retaining bolts into the long channels on opposing sides of the toilet flange. Slide the bolts until they are flush with the ends of the channel.
- 2). Place a straightedge tool, such as a block of wood or level, on top of the flange. Slide it back until the edge of the tool is pressed against each retaining bolt. The tool represents the final angle of the toilet when fully installed.
- 3). Rotate the flange until the straightedge tool is parallel with the wall for toilets that will sit at a 90-degree angle to the wall. Rotate and adjust the position of the flange as needed for toilets that will sit at an odd angle.
- 4). Drive anchor screws through the screw holes in the flange into the flooring with a drill and a screwdriver drill bit. Wiggle the flange to ensure the unit is sitting firm and tight with the floor. Any movement at all could lead up to leaks. Tighten the screws as necessary.
