DIY Wedding and Party Ideas Part 4 - Creative Origami
To begin, origami dates back hundreds of years in Japan and has become very popular throughout the world today.
The price of origami can range from $0 to anything up to a few hundred dollars depending on the type of paper.
Some prefer beautiful handmade or traditional paper like japanese chiyogami and other washi, while others recycle paper from home.
Some examples are, wrapping paper, paper from packages, magazines, and even old cards and stationery.
To make recycled paper more "elegant" all you need is metallic paint or markers, or even some glitter to apply directly on the paper that will be used to fold origami.
For a quick and simple decoration, add a few origami models around the entrance of the party venue and even dotted around the guest tables.
If you would like fun little seating cards, add a small origami model to the card itself or a larger model to hold the name card as a little decorative stand.
One of the most unique origami ideas is an alternative to the guest book.
This can be done is several ways, either by decorating a plain guestbook by attaching it to the cover or as page markers, or as a fun original guest book, make small hanging origami models with a blank note attached to them.
Each guest can then choose an origami note to write their personal message and hang it in a designated area, on a small tree, sculpture, hanging on ribbons or anything else you can think of.
There truly are endless possibilities to origami.
Some artisans create origami jewelry or hair accessories while others simply add them to flower bouquets and even as food decoration.
Play around with simple models and if you have ever tried kirigami (Japanese paper cutting) the combination of the two is very pretty and interesting to the eye.
