One could spend a lot of time comparing the pros and cons between life in the city and rural living.
One major difference in the two lifestyles is that rural properties are larger than city lots.
You have a lot more living space on a farm than you do in a residential development in the city.
There is also an absence of traffic noise in rural areas.
One way to enjoy a portion of the extra backyard space that comes with rural living is to create an outdoor entertainment space.
Adding a fire pit to that area would definitely enhance the appearance of the space.
It would also allow you to enjoy outdoor entertaining throughout the year rather than just in the spring and summer months.
There are small fire pits that city dwellers can add to their patio living area or to a deck or balcony.
But, having more outdoor space allows you to design and construct an large fire pit for you, your family, and your friends to enjoy.
If you don't like the idea of design and construction, you can simply purchase large, potable pits to add to your backyard design.
One bonus of living in a rural area is the extra closeness you feel with nature.
Rural families almost always have a few dogs and cats around the farm.
There is a special closeness in families when they share in the work involved with farming.
One of the best ways for the family to relax after a day of hard work is to gather around a fire, with the dogs at their feet, and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature at night.
One way to enjoy rural living is to frequently invite family and friends for a cookout.
You can encourage them to bring their dogs since you live where there is plenty of room for the dogs to run and play.
Once the sun sets, everyone can gather around the dancing flames to toast marshmallows, tell stories, or play some music and sing.
A summertime cookout or pot luck party is a good way for everyone to share the bounty of their garden.
There is usually less outdoor work to be done on a farm in late autumn and winter.
This gives you more opportunities to enjoy the warmth of a fire pit.
Who says you can't have a picnic by the fire in December? Your dog won't mind.
