So you want to explore the unique world which lies below the surface of your favorite body of water, and you want to record your findings for all to see.
Sounds like fun.
But if you are going to do it, you should do it right.
That means finding the best underwater digital camera for the job.
There is a wide variety of waterproof cameras available on today's market.
Probably the most important consideration when equipping yourself with the proper camera is the maximum depth at which said camera can operate.
Most divers only need a good waterproof housing for their normal digital camera, like the Canon WP-DC-28, an underwater housing made for the Canon G10, which has a maximum depth of 30 meters, making it entirely suitable for recreational dives.

Then there is the 10Bar housing which can go to 90 meters.
If you would prefer to get the best underwater digital camera you can the Sealife DC500 is a compact model which can function on land and and is proven down to 60 meters.
Another example is the Sea and Sea DX-1G , with a depth rating of 55 meters.
You may want a camera with a conversion lens to compensate for the optical distortion effects of water.

Depending on your personal needs, you have the option of simply buying a housing like the Canon WP-DC-28, a camera such as the Sealife DC500, which can do double duty,on land or in the water, or going all the way and buying a dedicated dive camera.
