In the world of self-help, there are plenty of great resources available to women like you who want to improve their lives by making a midlife career change. If you find yourself struggling with your current career and it is impacting you in a negative way - it may be time to consider a midlife career change. Tip #1: Live for Yourself

When you are trying to better yourself, your career and your perspectives and outlooks on life it is important to remember to live life for yourself! Although it is difficult, try not to consider what other people may want you to do, say or act, as this inhibits your own individual growth on so many levels.

Tip #2: Avoid Generalizations

Generalizations are the enemy of your midlife career change success. Examine your thought processes to see what negative, general beliefs you hold about yourself. If you say in your mind that you "always fail," etc., this is not accurate. Even if it was only one time, you have succeeded in the past! Remind yourself that the future is bright and a new, exciting career is possible.

Tip #3: Get Moving!

Exercise is not just for people trying to lose weight. There are multiple reasons for exercising. When you exercise, your body is stimulated to produce hormones and chemicals that work together to keep you calm and happy. Both of these traits will help you cope with all the changes that come with making a career change at midlife.

Tip #4 Look Forward

One of the best ways to start implementing a midlife career change is to leave your current work at work. This includes any griping or over-analyzing you do regarding your current work situation. Allow yourself no more than 15 minutes to vent about whatever frustrations or hassles you faced during the day, then leave it at that. This will allow your mind to be free to concentrate on your new and exciting career plans.

Tip #5 Breathe

Stop and take a deep breath! It really works even though it may seem kind of stupid or silly. Focus deeply on each and every breath that you take and you will feel the stress that you are carrying lifted. Learning different breathing techniques may help, but it is not required to benefit from breathing. Making a career change after 40 isn't easy, but it is well worth it. Taking a few deep breaths throughout each day will help you on your way.

Tip #6 Laugh

See the humor in life. Lighten up and laugh when you can. Laughter is the best medicine for a reason; not only can it relieve stress, but it can also improve social status. People are drawn to others that are fun to be around and when people are drawn to you, you can't help but feel on top of the world and ready to conquer it if that is what your midlife career change involves.

We all understand that it is important to do what you love. Midlife is the right time to make this happen! Remember, the most successful people in the world became successful by doing what they love.

Find out what you want to do for the rest of your life, and make sure that you will be happy when you are doing it.
