Metabolism - The Key To Fat Loss
Although there has not been any proven technique that works for 100% of body types, there are many promising techniques that have worked for many.
Before we get into the different methods of altering your metabolism I would like to stress that no matter what diet you embark on it's very important to eat healthy and exercise.
Many marketers will tell you that their methods work with no exercise and you can eat what you want when you want.
Well folks I hate to break it to you but cardiovascular disease is one of the major killers today.
Bad habits such as eating high fat foods and being lazy are not good habits for prevention.
In fact, all of us are at risk for heart disease (some more than others).
It's true what they say about your metabolism being the key to losing weight.
It truly does define your weight in every way as this is when your body gets rid of fat or metabolizes fat.
To be successful in dieting we must know what our metabolism does to our body system so that you may have a better understanding of the process that is taking place.
So what is a metabolism anyway? Metabolism is a series of events or chemical reactions that takes place in the bodies cells.
Our metabolism is what alters the calories in our food we eat daily into the energy that we use to live.
So yes, we are constantly metabolizing something from when we breathe to even when our digestive system breaks down our food.
In fact, many metabolic reactions are constantly taking place in our body so that our intracellular system can continue functioning.
Ultimately, it is our metabolism that determines our weight but we too have a duty of controlling our food intake for good health.
Our metabolism is determined by many factors such as our sex, age, weight, activity level, the time of day we eat, how many times we eat, and cellular dysfunction.
Many people have taken some of these factors and have manipulated them to determine whether it's effective with weight loss.
Many of those manipulations have failed and others have brought success.
Before deciding what alteration you'll make in your diet it's a good idea to stop and think about your body type.
A shift in your metabolism may either bring about a positive or a negative effect.
For example, I may decide to eat higher calorie foods so that my body will adjust to this shift in metabolism burning more energy and then go back to a low calorie diet so that my body would metabolize more than it's accustomed to.
This method may be effective to some but to others it may ultimately cause them to gain weight.
Our bodies have a system and this system has been used since growing in the womb.
For dieters to make a change in that system may cause their body to adjust to the contrary of what was desired.
Two of the proven techniques to altering you metabolism include: 1.
Eating smaller meals (at least 5-7) throughout the day to enable your body to continuously metabolize throughout the day.
2.
Exercising in the mornings, at night, and throughout the day, remaining active so that your body stays in a metabolic mode.
Some of the causes of a low metabolism include: 1.
Eating too many foods that contain a high content of sugar 2.
Fasting (going the whole day without eating) 3.
Not being active enough throughout the day 4.
Eating a diet that is too low in calories 5.
You may have a thyroid dysfunction 6.
Chemicals in foods 7.
Alcohol 8.
Dehydration 9.
Stress 10.
Some over the counter drugs 11.
Not getting enough sleep Try some of these ideas in the morning to put your body in a fat burning mode: 1.
When you wake up in the morning eat a breakfast consisting of 250-300 calories.
You must restore the energy that was lost throughout your sleep.
2.
Try drinking a cup of tea on your way to work.
Tea contains antioxidants which can also aid in weight loss.
Other foods containing antioxidants include: apples, broccoli, green and red peppers, cantaloupe, spinach, carrots, tomatoes, raspberries, onions, grapes, strawberries, kale, Brussels sprouts, blueberries, sweet potatoes, cabbage, raisins and oranges.
3.
Instead of taking the elevator to work in the morning, take the stairs.
4.
Move around the office throughout the day.
Instead of sending an email to one of your colleagues, walk to their desk and tell them the news.
5.
Eat small meals throughout the day to keep your body at its best metabolic mode.
6.
Stretch at your desk throughout the day.
