    Fade

    • The fade is not to be confused with the slice. A fade is the same concept as a slice, but a fade is usually intentional and not as severe as a slice.

    Hook

    • The hook is the complete opposite of the slice and it, too, is unintentional.

    Correcting a Slice

    • Often when a slice occurs, the shoulders and feet are not aligned with the tee and the shoulder drops significantly when on the front swing. Align yourself properly and keep the shoulders up while swinging through.

    Benefits of a Slice

    • There aren't many, but if your ball is far left of the hole and it is alongside trees, a straight shot is often difficult, if not impossible. A slice, then, would be appropriate.

    Scoring

    • Scoring on a slice is the same as taking a stroke. It makes it more difficult for the golfer to get par on a hole if he has sliced.
