    irritants

    • Irritants are based on individual cases of dermatitis and can be avoided carefully once they have been identified. Some standard irritants include certain acidic or processed foods, allergens, materials and fabrics, chemicals and cigarette smoke. External solutions include switching to cotton clothes and bedding, avoiding smoke and chemicals, or getting an air purifier to clean out allergens such as pet hair, dander, dust mites, pollen and mold that may inflame an occurrence of eczema. These external changes will ease the irritation on the skin, alleviating some of the inflammation and swelling, reducing the itching and leading to less scratching.

    Natural Skin Care

    • Moisturize frequently in order to help reduce eczema breakouts. When caring for your skin be sure to watch for factors that can affect it--soap and detergent, lotions and perfumes, sweating and any other chemicals that might end up on your skin. Soaps and detergents can be harsh on the skin, especially when they contain dyes and perfumes.

    Immunity Boosters

    • Negative reactions of the immune system can cause an outbreak of eczema. Therefore, strengthening immunity can help prevent outbreaks of dermatitis. Add omega-3 and omega-9 fatty acids to your diet to help strengthen immunity. Also, vitamins E and C as well as calcium can help. Exercise and sufficient sleep in the daily routine are helpful for the strength of immunity in addition to the strength of the body itself.

    Hydration

    • Drink plenty of water in order to help hydrate the skin and keep it moisturized, which will help minimize eczema breakouts. In order to remain hydrated, drink at least 2 liters of water per day. Ten glasses of liquid may help, but be sure to avoid acidic or salty liquids, as they may cause adverse effects.

    Avoid Excessive Moisture

    • Excessive water on the surface of the skin may cause an eczema breakout. Take showers instead of baths and avoid excessively humid or hot environments whenever possible, as they can be damaging to sensitive skin as well. In addition, lukewarm water is recommended when showering in order to be as cautious as possible regarding dermatitis.
