How to Maintain & Clean a Cherry Wood Floor
- 1). Sweep the floor daily with a broom to remove loose dust, dirt and grime. Use a vacuum cleaner without a beater bar to remove tiny particles from the crevices of wood planks.
- 2). Fill a plastic bucket with 1 gallon of warm water. Dampen a microfiber cloth in the water. Thoroughly wring out all excess water from the cloth. Make sure the cloth is only slightly damp.
- 3). Wipe a 3-foot-by-3-foot section of the floor with the damp cloth. Dry the wood immediately with a terrycloth towel. Do not leave any moisture on the wood.
- 4). Clean the rest of the floor in 3-foot-by-3-foot sections with the damp cloth. Frequently rinse the cloth with water to avoid reapplying dirt to the floor. Thoroughly dry each section before proceeding to the next.
- 5). Remove any stains, scuffs or heel marks with a wood floor cleaning solution recommended by your flooring manufacturer. Spray the product onto a clean microfiber cloth. Gently rub the blemish with the cloth until it is completely removed.
- 6). Place mats designed for hardwood floors near doorways to prevent tracking of dirt particles and water onto the floor. Shake the mats outdoors regularly to remove accumulated dirt and debris.
