How to Create an Angry Jack-o-Lantern
- 1
Hollow out the pumpkin.
Lay out the newspaper to cover the area you will be carving your pumpkin on. With the knife, cut off the top of the pumpkin. Using the large metal spoon, scoop out the pulp on the inside of the pumpkin until it is completely empty. - 2). Examine the pumpkin from all angles to decide which side you will design your face on. When you have it selected, use a permanent maker to sketch out the face. You can draw the face out freehand, or use a stencil that you have created or purchased. To make an angry pumpkin face, carve the eyes with a slight outward slant. The mouth is the most prominent feature on an angry pumpkin: If you do not have a premade stencil, simply draw out a pumpkin mouth with a few jagged teeth but turn the outside corners of the mouth slightly downward. Don't turn it down so much that it looks like a frown, though, or your pumpkin will look sad.
- 3). Once you have the face drawn on to your pumpkin, use a sharp knife to carefully cut along the lines of your pattern. Once you have cut through, gently push against the cut pieces and pop them out.

A finished angry pumpkin.
When your face has been completely carved out, place votive candle inside the glass holder, and then into the inside bottom of the pumpkin. White votive candles give off the best light inside a pumpkin, and the glass candle holders are the safest way to house the candle. Sit back and listen for the tiny shrieks when people see your angry pumpkin.
