How to Get a Grant to Pay Your Bills
- 1). Gather your social security card, birth certificate, previous tax information from the previous year, current bank statements, pay stubs and bills. You will need similar information from anyone else who lives with you and pays rent and utilities.
- 2). Categorize your bills. Use group labels such as medical bills, monthly living expenses (include groceries, utilities, fuel, and clothing) and loans. This will make it easier for you when you have to add up expenses in categories on your grant application.
- 3). Go to grant websites to apply for grants to pay your bills. You'll have to download the grant application packages. The grant packages will need your personal information, contact information and itemized bills. Be honest when applying for assistance. Follow all directions the application package provides.
- 4). Register with the website so you can complete your grant application. To complete application online, make sure you have Adobe Reader to open the grant application. Once you're finished completing the grant application package, you'll receive a confirmation number. You can see the status of your grant application by using the confirmation number. Call their customer service line and check the status of your grant application. Be sure to have your confirmation number when calling.
