Lay the newspaper on a flat surface and place the headband on it. Take one triangle and spread rubber cement on the bottom, then stick it on the top of the headband along one edge. Repeat with the remaining triangles, evening their spacing out as you go. Wait about 10 minutes for the cement to become tacky.

    • 3). Place the mask on the newspaper face side down. Spread rubber cement along the top edge of each scrap of fabric, then attach one strip to each side of the bottom inside of the mask. Wait about 10 minutes for the glue to become tacky.

    • 4). Turn the mask over and place it next to the headband. Shake the spray paint can and evenly spray both mask and headband, being sure to follow the manufacturer's warnings about proper ventilation and breathing protection. Allow about ten minutes for the paint to dry.

    • 5). Turn the headband over and spray-paint the opposite side, then pick up the mask and spray the other side of the fabric. Allow paint to dry, about ten minutes, and apply additional coats to either side of the pieces as needed.

    • 6). Put the mask on and drape the fabric over the front of your shoulders, then place the headband on your head, flush with the edge of the mask.
