Refusing to Let Yourself Fail - The Key to Staying Motivated
Motivation starts with developing a positive mindset that refuses to let you fail.
With a positive mindset, you see a brighter future, you don't quit, and there's nothing that you can't overcome.
If you're thinking that sounds like Fantasyland, well guess what? I live it and breathe it very day and so can you.
Let me give you a few pointers that will help you out.
Be mindful of how you think and speak.
Your choice of words can be very powerful.
For starters, get the word 'can't' out of your vocabulary and don't accept it from others, either.
'I can't' means one of two things: 'I choose not to' or 'I don't know how to' so figure out which is which and just be direct.
Psychologically, you want to have a 'can do' attitude at all times, so this is very important.
Next, consider some word replacements.
Replace the word 'if' with 'when' in your speech.
For example, 'If I get this raise, I can move to a better home.
' becomes 'When I get this raise, I can move to a better home.
' See the difference? 'If' implies that something might not happen, which no longer fits with your new motivated approach to life.
Replace the word 'but' with 'and'.
The word 'but' tends to negate every thing you said leading up to it.
For example, "I agree with you but..
" basically is telling someone you don't agree with them.
This is cheap and convenient psychology and we all do it sometimes so focus on using the word 'and' instead and you'll find your mindset will improve almost instantly because you're subconsciously paying more attention to what others actually have to say! Focus on listening, rather than waiting for your turn to speak, in a conversation.
Again, we've all done this and is especially difficult for those that are outgoing and have naturally extraverted personalities.
Listening is something of a lost art and you will feel better for being a better listener, not to mention that others will respond better to you as well.
Last, ask yourself right now 'What energy am I giving off to the world?' Be honest with yourself and know that you can change your outlook and the energy people sense from you.
We all give off a certain energy, through our facial expressions, our body language, and even our thoughts and emotions.
This energy can be good or it can be bad, and we usually allow it to be affected by what is going on around us.
What happens is that the energy we give off attracts similar energy.
That's why those people who usually seem "lucky" are likely giving off positive energy and attracting the same back to them.
Those people (and we all probably know some) who can't seem to catch a break are probably giving off negative energy and attracting negative things right back to them.
It's called the Universal Law of Attraction and it is very real.
