How to Hang Laundry Overnight
- 1). Shake the wet clothing out as much as possible when you take them out of the washing machine to remove wrinkles and excess moisture.
- 2). Straighten the pockets of denim jeans or other pants and then hang them by the waistline. Direct the fan onto the pants and jeans, if possible, to hasten the drying time.
- 3). Hang shirts and jackets from the bottoms at each side seam. This will prevent clothespin marks from being obvious along the shoulders of the shirts and jackets.
- 4). Straighten skirts in a similar fashion to the jeans and hang them by the waistline.
- 5). Shake towels one more time immediately prior to hanging them. Hang the towels by a short end along the clothesline. Periodically during the evening hours, knead the fabric of the towels to keep them from stiffening as they dry. Shake the towels again when they are dry and you remove them from the clothesline.
- 6). Dry dresses by draping them over the clothesline. This will prevent them from touching the floor.
- 7). Hang underwear from a drying rack, if possible. Clip the underwear to the rungs of the rack or loop underwear over the ends of the rungs. Hang the straps of bras over the ends of the rungs.
- 8). Check the progress of the clothes as they dry. Most items will need to hang over the entire night and should be ready to remove in the morning. Keep the fan directed at the heaviest items to help them dry more quickly.
